Development of a Human Whole Stool Reference Material
Gaithersburg, MD, USA
September 12, 2019

Over the past decade, it has become evident that the human gut microbiome plays a critical role in a vast and disparate set of health and disease states. To understand biologically-relevant properties of the human gut microbiome, validated measurements are needed. The IAFNS Gut Microbiome Committee is working towards developing a set of Human Whole Stool Reference Materials in collaboration with the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). The goal of this project is to quantify gut microbial metabolites in the material that have been linked to diet and health. The purpose of this collaborative workshop is to identify the priority metabolites for measurement.
